iceland.

fashion bloggers like mah gurl prettylegit and the women of whowhatwear daily often do a post called "currently channeling..." or "inspired by..." i particularly like these posts because they show that fashion can be about taking the influences of your surroundings and interpreting it into what you wear. clothes can be about history, about art, or about culture. i have this "fashion blog" just cause its fun and i like writing and i like clothes- its not supposed to be taken super seriously or make it seem like fashion is the most important thing in the world, cause its not. it just can be interesting sometimes. fashion can be art. but it can not be art too.

that being said--this weekend i watched the film "heima"-- a documentary about the band sigur ros' tour across the country in their home of iceland. the movie was beautiful, inspiring, thought-provoking, motivating...it featured dreamlike scenes of the icelandic country in sync with the entrancing melodies of sigur ros. along with this, the film showed glimpses of the icelandic people roaming around town, feasting on desserts and soaking in the music.
these scenes got me wondering about icelandic street style. with a country so isolated, whose population is less than that of wyoming, they must have an interesting take on fashion. something different and inspiring.
well, i was somewhat disappointed to find that, according to "reykjavik looks," icelandic people pretty much look like everyone else. (in the street style blog world, at least.)

still, "heima" reminded me of fair isle and furry hats, pale skin and dainty locks. so thats what im "channeling" as of late.
