fashion myth #328719

your shoes do NOT need to match your outfit/purse/belt...really, its okay.

here we have a simple demonstration of how one's shoes do not need to perfectly match one's outfit. it is actually more fashion-forward, in fact, to have your shoes + outfit "match" in complimentary colors, rather than being the exact same color. this type of outfit shows more thought and sophistication.
in exhibit A, the outfit features many different, seemingly unmatching colors. the key, however, is that they are all jewel tones that coordinate and compliment each other quite nicely. those emerald shoes just add the perfect pop.
in exhibit B, we have my friend maclaine. i know she is a reader of this blog and i hope she doesnt mind me using this picture that she recently featured on her own blog- but i couldnt pass up the chance to show her excellent styling choices. here, maclaine mixes a minty green dress with ruby shoes. red + green could bring to mind the image of a christmas count-down chain, but here, the opposite colors just enhance one another and make the outfit truly complete.

Brooke! So, I´m here in El Salvador right now and because the fashion here is just a little behind I thought that I´d look at your blog and see what the latest fashion forward world was up to. I have to say that I was so suprised (in a good way)and I must say honored to see myself up there! anyway, keep up the great fashion blogging!
